Tyrolian Adventures – up and over the Großglockner

We never´ve been to South Tyrol

South Tyrol was as long as I can think on my bucket list, luckily Herbie wasn´t there either. So it was quite easy to define a late summer break there to discover the region of „former Austria“ – South Tyrol and hit some balls on the great spots for golfing there.

We started our trip from Vienna by car as we wanted to cross the Großglockner – neither Herbie nor me, have been doing this before and we were so exited to crawl up the curves to the highest road in Austia to transit into the valley of South Tyrol.

The scenery was amazing. Stunning the view. We were very lucky as we had a terrific view over the mountains and the best road trip weather, we could have wished for.

Approaching Lana. We spent the next days in one of the most formidable small boutique hotels ever. „Villa Arnica“ – which is a place I always would return to. Best thing – breakfast at the small pool – Rivierea style.

Staying at the Villa Arnica we had the perfect hub to leave to three different golf clubs.

First one a small 9 hole golf course in the edge of the mountains in Lana, owned by a close friend of ours. Golf Club Brandis. Very lovely and nicely arranged, great looking in lays in the valley of Lana, surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Lana.

The following days we spent playing GC Petersberg and GC St. Virgil Seis, which have been both adorable golf courses high on mountain tops with sceneric views and lush green surroundings.

We decided to do a short trip to Bozen to just dont miss this quite important small city in former austrian history, so we packed Luna and went to have a nice lunch and also done some shopping for Herbie. Really, it just came along like that.

Our trip over the alps to Lana and the terrific golf courses there was just so incredible tranquille, relaxed and laid back that we would liket to visit again very soon!
