Islay, you left me waiting since I first saw you over a half year ago. On my PC screen.
I never expected what I would have gotten there. It was major and epic. No doubts it was the best Golf Escape I had so far. It was Herberts Birthday present and I – as you know when following my page – tried to find the right place to stay on lslay. It turned out to be the Machrie Hotel, obviously the most nicest spot on Islay for Golfing, cause you are right living at the course. It is one of the most oldest in Scottland and was my first links.
Of cause I was excited because of the trip itself with Herbert cause I know him to want to go there for a long time to see all the whiskey distilleries on Islay and I gifted it by knowing that already. Blink. Blink. Still I was excited because of my fist links.
First I googled what „links“ means, didn’t want to pop out as an idiot by thinking links means playing to the left. Haha. I never thought so but either I did not know about a „links“ course at all.
And then the course: may I introduce you to The Machrie

We only played this course for five days and it never got bored at all. We had a fantastic time at OUR course, almost alone we played some times and we felt kind of very homie there.
As a surprise, my stunning man booked GLENEAGLES. I still have no words for this experience I could be part of. Maybe for some it might be just a Golf Course but for me it was very simple „a dream coming true“. GLENEAGLES the PGA course. Utmost exhausting, challenging my golf experience but also my emotional one, as I started to hit balls not exactly the way I used to, but this is another story to be told.
GLENEAGLES and THE MACHRIE left me breathless and I still can repaint in my memory every single day and spot we have been. It was Scotland as its best, experienced by driving, playing golf and drinking a lots of Whisky.
